About Our Mission
I first visited Haiti on a mission trip in 2012. Traveling from Port au Prince to our destination, I witnessed mile after mile of people living in tents and tin lean-tos as a result of the devastation from the earthquake of 2010. When we walked through the village the next day, my eyes filled with tears as I saw indescribable poverty and I thought, what could we possibly do in 10 days to change anything. At that moment, a sense of peace surrounded me, and I felt the physical presence of God walking beside me and I knew he had called me there. In my journal that night I wrote “Just to touch ONE life would be worthwhile!”
Since that first transforming trip, I travelled to Haiti twice a year until 2020 when Covid and gang violence made it no longer possible. I had established personal relationships with translators and residents and, especially, the children. In order to continue to support, nourish, and love this community who had become my family, I founded a nonprofit - ONE BY ONE.
So now I do not think of what I cannot do, but what I can do - transforming lives…..ONE BY ONE!

Current Situation
Haiti is currently enduring a prolonged crisis that has been significantly worsened by a surge in gang violence in 2024. According to World Vision, over 15,000 people were displaced within a single week, underscoring the rapid escalation and severity of the crisis. The turmoil has led to extensive food shortages, widespread job losses, and the closure of schools throughout the nation.
